Secondar 1D - Grafitti or artistic

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 6:36:00 AM

The mural done by Class 1D is nearly done and needing just 1-2 more hours, they look great to finish the project well on time and the mural certainly looks very impressve. Created by the artistic minds of the AEP students in the class, this mural displays the neat brushstrokes and detailed eye for perfection.
Located on the 5th floor outside the AEP workshops, this is something you should catch.

Sec 1E - Pebble-filled decoration

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 12:00:00 AM

Victoria on stones? Yes, this is indeed the idea of secondary 1E. The idea is to make Victoria with pebbles. This will be displayed at the planter outside the foyer. Pebbles, specially ordered by the class, will be painted in various colours, black, red and yellow. The word Victoria will be in black, while the background of the planter will be in red and yellow.Ms. Yap, the form teacher of 1E can be seen giving instructions to the students in the picture below. It was her who thought of this challenge.(picture)Their target is to finish the word Victoria before lunch time (1.10pm), and the whole process by the end of the day.

However, internal disputes were aplenty. Many of the classmates complained to us about their discontent with the monitor of the class. Ironically, according to them, he is afraid of paint, and they want a change in the position of monitor. Let us hope that this dispute is solved and the challenge successfully completed.

Sec 1I - SPORTS for 24 HOURS?!

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 11:52:00 PM

If there was a challenge that requires alot of determination andperseverance. It would be this one. 13 sports over 24 hours is definitely noeasy feat, but it was a challenge that class 1I has posed for themselves.

Their aim, to promote sportsmanship to the rest of the school. Although somewere resistant towards this idea, they went forward with it anyways. From the span of 10am till 2pm in the afternoon, they managed to engage inbasketball, soccer and tennis. By the time we hunted them down, they lookedshacked. Immensely exhausted. Many slumped at one corner, partaking inisotonic drinks.During the games, they split themselves up into equal teams to playcompetitively.( They apparently struggled with volleyball!) It wasdefinitely a good idea to have students bring their water bottles whereverthey went. For they constantly needed to replenish themselves. Smartthinking! Just like true Victorians

Sec 1G - banner the size of skybridge?

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 9:57:00 PM

Imagine a bright yellow 50m banner spanning the length of the sky bridge? Yes, this would be the end result of the challenge of 1G. What originally was a random idea, is now proving to be very successful as they are way ahead of schedule, as said by the students of 1G. The banner has the equation, "Courage + Speed + Sportsmanship = Victorian" on it.

What does speed have to do with being a victorian? Our effiency perhaps. With newspapers strewn all over the place and the uncompleted banner lying around, it looks like the class is hard at work. They expect to finish the entire banner and have it hung onto the sky bridge by 6 in the evening. The view from the parade square should be pretty fantastic by then. A student even turned a little mischievous, dipping his hands into black paint. Maybe they should add the word mischievous into the equation. :P

Secondary 1A - Paper Macheeeeeee

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 6:56:00 PM

Guess what! 1A is making the school crest from plastic bottles and paper mache. Yet another giant school crest looms on the horizon. (Guys, we need more creativity) As mentioned by the students of 1A, they chose this particular challenge because its supposedly more innovative. Moreover, there was always the bonus that it would be inducted into the heritage centre.

Yes, it’s the Victoria School’s Hall Of Fame.

At present, they gathered newspapers from all over the globe to shed them in a barbaric manner. (By using their hands of course, DUH…) With the OHP shining onto the wall like the crimson light of the sun, they trace the outline of the school logo onto a big piece of wood with a marker and pencil. Then, they mixed the super glue with water so as to make it more effective and greater in volume. Inevitably, these would be painted in classic Victorian colours.

No doubt, it has been a tiring, fun and rewarding experience as many of them agreed and they intend to be finished by 5. Let's give it up for 1A!

Hope they keep up to schedule though…

Sec 1F - INTERROGATION

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 5:27:00 PM

Class 1F is interviewing teachers? Come again? You might be wondering whythey are "interrogating" these teachers. Fact is, they will display these"interrogations" on SPEECH DAY itself! Relax, it's actually just a biographyof 131 staff of Victoria school. Mdm Farah, the form teacher of 1F, gave each student a task.

They each had to interview 3 members of staff. The students had to make several queries, for instance how they felt about VS and so on. Hmmm sounds interesting. Zhen Dong, class monitor of class 1F says, "It's quite an easy job actually, just interview the teachers and then upload the conversations for compilation.

The real difficulty lies in locating them (teachers)", he says with a smirk. The challenge is to be completed latest by tonight, as Mdm Farah forbids the students to sleepover in school. The compilation would be presented on Speech Day, where important guests like Mr Teo Ser Luck himself will be shown this biography. We can’t wait!

Secondary 1D - Wall Mural

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 1:37:00 PM

Amazing! Yet another mural! Upon arriving at the 5th floor of the art block, we were only shocked to discover that students of 1D have already started laying the newspapers, covering the windows of the art room.

Evidently, it was to prevent paint from spilling onto the windows… defensive magic. When we asked what their class was doing, we found out that they were going to paint a mural consisting of the picture on the back of every Victorian Challenge T-shirt.

Incredible! Their target was to complete the mural before midnight at least and do the clearing up early next morning. Totally unbelievable. How will they be able to achieve it?

Their painting will be consisting of 3 colours, which are going to be revealed in the final product later. Upon asking a particular guy from the class how he was feeling about the challenge, he said that he was very excited for his class and indeed very confident that they would be able to complete the challenge before midnight. I also learnt that it was the aspect of team work that inspired them to pose this challenge to themselves.

By the looks of it, the class seemed rather organised and each of them had an idea of what they had to do respectively. My well wishes are with them, and hopefully, they can even complete the mural by tonight in order to go to the grand dinner!

Secondary 1H - SAUSAGES

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 1:16:00 PM

Class 1H has embarked on a challenge to raise funds by selling food, hand and home made. They intend to barbecue different types of food such as hot dogs, marshmallows, corn as well as selling can drinks. (Barbecue can drinks too?) They intend to raise as much funds as possible, with all the proceeds going to charity… how helpful.

We interviewed a member of the class, Thishanth, who told us that if it takes the whole 24 hours to raise enough funds, then they will barbecue through the night. He says, "We are doing this all for charity, nothing else. Mr. Gabriel came up with this idea and we found it very feasible as barbecuing is very fun. After all, it was his idea as he is an avid lover of hot dogs." Sexy dogs or sausages? You decide.

Class 1H has also come up with a very interesting idea to have fun during the challenge. They take shifts at various times of the day, so while one team is barbecuing, the other can slack. Below are photos of them playing badminton. Please do support them!

1B - Quenching our Thirst.

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 12:58:00 PM

Venturing into the monopoly of F&B business, Class 1B has taken up the challenge of selling food to raise funds. A lofty target of $1310 by just selling drinks and deserts. An assortment of refreshments like Whatever.

The prices are reasonable at $1.20 per can drink despite the GST increase. All proceeds will go solely to charity (Definitely not NKF). It is indeed money worth spending; reason being the challenge is for... charity.

Interviewing Wei Jie, "We are very confident that we can achieve this target, we do not mind to keep on selling through the night. But we've posters all around school to advertise our stall, so we expect the turnout to be good. Please support!" Well, assuming we’re nocturnal, they will do well.

However, problems arose swiftly. Oh no! They realized that they lacked several dessert ingredients. Without these essential ingredients, profits would definitely not be as good as it should be. What will class 1B do to solve this problem? We’ll probably find out halfway through the night.

Drinks hotline anyone?
