Sec 4F - FINALLY DONE
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 8:43:00 AM
With this final posting, we have marked the end of the fun-filled Victoria Challenge. We are positive that every Victorian has gained something valuable from this experience. Be it gaining leadership skills or just forging stronger bonds between your friends, this challenge will always be an unforgettable experience to us all. As the overall I/C of our class 4F, I would like to thank everyone in my class for making this blog a success. Also, I will like to thank every single Victorian involved in this event for making it a great success. I hope that this blog can give you many memories of the Victoria Challenge. Overall IC Victoria Challenge ’07 has been a meaningful experience for me and both my class, 4F. I felt that this was a time for us, as a class to bond. I’m glad to say that we have managed to overcome the difficulties faced, not as an individual but as a class. I believe that Victoria Challenge ’07 will always be in our memories as it will be etched deeply in our hearts for many years to come. I would like to thank the school on behalf of my class for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. This will be 4F’s swansong to the school apart from our upcoming O’Levels. May we keep her flag unfurled. Nil Sine Labore. Monitor This Victoria Challenge has given me a very interesting insight with my class since our last rendezvous was in 2006, during the sec 3 camp in KOREF. Strengthening our strong class spirit, I feel that 4F has blossomed as a class and any adversities met would be brushed away like dust of our shoulders. When I leave Victoria School at the end of this year, it would definitely be with a heart heavier than any weight, for the pull to Victoria School, to my class 4F, has been more than special and it would be more than just a check point in my life. Instead, it will be a massive turning point. With this Victorian Challenge, it marks that my incredible time at Victoria School is coming to an end. In maybe 20 or 30 years time when I look back at my tracks at Victoria school, no doubt,victoriachallenge2007.blogspot.com would give me more than enough lasting memories to bring with me into my deathbed. And with this, I would like to thank the people who made my affair with Victoria School a very invaluable one, the teachers, staff and many classmates with unique personalities I never came across. Also, I thank you all for looking into this blog and making Victoria School a more fine institution. Assistant monitor Special Thanks:Our Teachers: Mr. Kenneth Chong and Mr. Zuraimi for helping out in our challenge. Our Class Committee: Azmeer and Zhi Hwa (For Food!!!)Sylvester and Edmund (For helping out on IT stuff) Darren and Andrew (For helping out in editing) Zhong Rong (Webmaster) Brandon and Kunyi (Treasurer) Darrell and Joel (Overall I/Cs) WHOLE 4F for helping out in accomplishing this challenge!Labels: Secondary Four
Sec 4D - Flying High
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 8:17:00 AM

Imagine a plane in Victoria school. Not a flying one though. Just a 5.25 metre long model made by Victorians with their hands, cement, a little brains and a lot of heart. These Victorians are the ever hardworking students of sec 4D. The model is mould from wood and wire mesh. the cement used to cast the model is currently being mixed by the students. With little experience, the students are having a little trouble mixing the cement.
However, they seem to be having a hell of a time together as a class. This challenge is chosen by 4D to show what Victoria Challenge is about and the direction where VS is going (soaring to greater heights). They expect to finish this challenge by morning the next day. Their greatest fear is that the cement used may not dry in time but with a budget of $700, perhaps they would be able to come up with something if a problem like this ever happens

Sec 4I - Art's corner??
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 8:13:00 AM

While other classes satisfy themselves with just painting murals on the school walls class 4i went a step further and decided to change the space near the staircase near the staff room into an arts corner. Complete wit piano bookcase and benches. Yet this task is close to impossible due to the tight space available. Yet they are daunted still preserving to complete their challenge. Although when asked they admitted tat their teacher chose this challenge NOT THEM. Wow this is truly a conundrum. Still they have their challenge and like the rest of us they are still they pushing forward their dream in sight

Sec 4J - Doing a part for charity
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 7:53:00 AM

Painting f&b blogging while other classes are engaging in challenges like this class 4J decide to collect toys for a more worthy cause. The home for those affected by cerebral parsley or more crudely known spastic people. Most of them are children and the sight is truly heart breaking,. To bring a smile to these young faces 4J decided to collect toys for them. A challenge to collect 131 kg of them to be precise a daunting task yet they some how managed to compete it. Although the road was fraught with problems. The main problem was where to collect the toys from. They decided to get it from the neighbourhood. Even though they faced rejection and hostilities from the “aunties” they never faltered and came through in the end….Labels: Secondary Four
Update: Sec 4E - Victoria on Steps
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 6:49:00 AM

Class 4E's challenge is nearly over! A painting on the steps of the amphitheatre. As we see from the pictures, they are nearly done... Only some touching up is needed on the uneven paint surfaces and more and they are certainly taking a well deserved break! Labels: Secondary Four

Sec 4C - Photo Montage!
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 11:57:00 PM
Weave 1310 photos of Victorians into a photo montage
A rather chaotic and messy scene greeted us as we entered the 4C classroom. Everyone was occupied doing something to help out in constructing a platform for their mosaic. This will be made using wooden boards.
Currently, they are progressing rather well with the platform and are on schedule. And they will be taking photos of various icons and people around the school. The photos will be developed in a shop in Parkway Parade. Adhesive spray will then be used to fix the photos in place when everything is done. 4C decided on this challenge as they felt that it will promote unity and help strengthen the Victorian Bond. What? This will also capture the many faces and aspects of Victoria School.
To them, this challenge budgeted in around $300 after a little sponsorship from their oh-so generous teachers who seem to be rather fun and enriching. They certainly represent the present-day teachers. Haha. They will finish their challenge approximately at 2am. This means that they will be working past midnight! Woooooow. That’s 14 hours from the time we interviewed them.
A random quote by Farhan of 4C, “Religion is the main cause of all problems in the world.”. That certainly describes their challenge completely…Labels: Secondary Four
Sec 4H - Rememberance
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 11:19:00 PM
Secondary 4H has decided to create a Photo Montague. Despite facing many difficulties, the tedious task was tackled by class 4H. One of the many reasons is the need to achieve victory no matter what the odds were. The main problem said Matthias was the photographs. We questioned him and he blamed the process of obtaining them. The process of leaving the school was hard as they were not allowed to leave till 1.05pm. Another problem was the difficulty of obtaining photographs. They have to possess an excellent logistics team in order to obtain them efficiently. It was certainly a feat to accomplish such a tough challenge. Well done guys!

Sec 4B - Balloonmania!
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 4:44:00 PM
Stepping into the classroom 4B, we thought we had entered the kid’s toys section. A balloon fest! The classroom was full of balloons which was required for 4B’s Victorian Challenge. Their challenge was to use only balloons to make the school crest. Currently they are still pumping all the balloons they have bought!
When done, they will use spray paint to immerse balloons in those authentic colours.
4B chose this challenge citing that it would pose as a true test of their grit and stamina. And lung power. NOT. They actually use pumps. The obstacles they face are prevailing winds from the south, climate changes and the influx of tornadoes and hurricanes. NOT. They actually face the prospect of buying so many… balloons. However, they are afraid that they may not have enough balloons for this challenge as they have only bought 500 balloons. But, if all goes well, they expect to finish everything by 8pm. Boom!

Sec 4A - 131m VS banner!
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 3:36:00 PM
4A. Apparently the best class academically in the whole cohort. Their task? To paint a 131 metre long banner. We ventured across the red brick road to find out.
We found them very well organized when we got there.
The 131 metre long banner was no easy feat painting according to them. Tried they did, but they could not find any shop that sold a black banner 131 metres long. They had to get the shop keeper to sew several black banners together. The students also bought paint in the classic Victorian colours, collecting the essential materials along the way.
In preparation to the challenge, the students took the initiative to draw their design on a template with a scale of 4cm - 1m. They claim that the design they chose shows various phrases which are closest to the heart and embodies the Victorian spirit.
But why paint a 131 metre long banner? They feel that it is the most challenging challenge for them to show their team spirit and unity as a class. However, if it rains, it would be a major challenge to them to move the whole banner indoors.
Nerd fact 1: They spent about $400 on the challenge.
Nerd fact 2: They managed to collect newspapers to cover 131m for the banner!

4G - Victorian Spirit caught on tape!
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 11:01:00 AM
Teachers – Felicia Yeo, Tan YL
In a bid to remain original, 4G has embarked on a digital journey. A short film that portrays the Victorian spirit. With countless classes already getting hands on with paintbrushes and having attempts at being artists, 4G has chosen a different destiny.
Stationed at the Development Lab, they plan to consolidate videos on major events from the past year. Cross country, National day, Teachers’ day, Chinese New Year, Speech day and everything in between. The video also features past Victorians’ endeavors and achievements. Instead of taking it easy, they even plan to make music to accompany their video.
As quoted from Bryan Foo from 4G, “This video will capture the moments of Victoria past and present.”
Looking Good!

Secondary 4E - Painting a brighter look!
Posted by: Victoria School, at: 10:35:00 AM
Teachers – Ernie & Jennifer Koh
Kicking off to a good start, 4E gathered together outside the amphitheatre for their penultimate challenge – painting the Victorian crest on the steps of the amphitheatre. Brushing off thoughts of a possible downpour, they acted swiftly to assemble their paintbrushes and materials essential for their challenge.
They faced many obstacles – rain water from a possible downpour might seep in and dilute their paints, destroying their masterpiece. However, the possibility of rain would not dampen their strong Victorian spirit.
As quoted from a certain 4E pupil who was interviewed, “This is our last year in Victoria School and we want to leave a lasting mark and our legacy behind.” Majority of 4E were exuberant and an aura of confidence surrounded them as if to assure us that they would be the first class to finish their challenge. A good one at that.
Watcha lookin' at?!
