Opening Ceremony

Posted by: Victoria School, at: 9:52:00 AM

On Thursday, 12th July 2007, the guest of honour arrived at about 8.30am, greeted with a warm round of applause by all Victorians. First up was an opening speech by our principal, Mr Low. There, he talked about upholding the Victorian spirit, overcoming our challenges successfully and keeping the Victorian flag unfurled. Next up was a speech by our guest of honour, Mr Teo. He praised Victoria School for being a very special school for organsing the Victorian Challenge every four years.

After the speech, our head prefect presented a burning torch to our guest of honour, followed behind by our former head prefect, who was carrying the Victorian flag. Without further adieu, the guest of honour lighted the pyre, which was immediately followed by loud bursts of party poppers. On cue, all Victorians removed their school uniform shirts, revealing the orange, black sleeved shirt specially designed for the Victorian Challenge. In contrast, amongst our fellow Victorians were the peer leaders, wearing red shirts, and arranged in a manner that forms the letter VS.

We were dismissed shortly after to complete our challenges until the pyre burns out, which is within the twenty four hour period.
